Sophie rocks China Doll

The day after my shoot with Poppy, I went on another test shoot armed with a beautiful wardrobe from China Doll Boutique. I teamed up with the fantastic MUA Clare Barber, who I have worked with previously on a number of shoots. Today she was creating a dewy, bronzed look on a model she had sourced for us; Sophie Ellen Rudgley. Sophie's lovely hair colour complimented both the make-up and the clothing. We were very pleased!

Model; Sophie Ellen Rudgley
MUA: Clare Alexandra Barber
Wardrobe: China Doll Boutique

Right now, I am ready to go back to Uni and set the workload for my 3rd year. I am really hoping to frequent London over the next few months, expenses permitting, so am on the hunt for stylists, models and MUAs to test with, as well as agency-represented individuals. Please drop me an email if you are interested in creating magical stories and fashion looks with me! emilyjanephoto@hotmail.co.uk

Poppy rocks China Doll

A few weeks ago I shot an editorial submission, which included some beautiful clothing from China Doll Boutique  (http://www.chinadollboutique.com/ which will be my next destination when I feel a shopping urge overcome me!).
Unfortunately, I could not photograph everything for the editorial, so the Boutique were lovely enough to let me keep a hold of the stock for another week to use for test shoots I had booked!

My first shoot was a quick afternoon with Poppy Keith, and we explored a fairly new discovery of mine in the form of a rooftop car park! Poppy was amazing, she rocked the studded bralet and vibrant apparel like there was no tomorrow! She twirled around like a ballerina on the rooftop as we went scampering around the car park.

I want to shoot on rooftops more often, the view is breath-taking, and it's like another world above the city (I think Dick Van Dyke said that in 'Mary Poppins'!).

Anyway here are some of the photos from that delightful test shoot;

Norfolk Brides/ A Most Curious Party

 Good evening!
I sincerely apologise for my silence on my blog over the last few weeks. I have been planning and shooting so many things that I cannot publish just yet, I haven't found time to dedicate to giving my blog the personal touch it is screaming for!

 Fortunately, I now have some fresh photographs to share with you. Last month, I had the wonderful opportunity to try something very new to me, and different to my usual; a bridal-themed promo shoot. I have only dabbled shooting wedding photography on one or two occasions before now, so I was very keen to try something that would help me consider how my work would appear from a more commercial perspective, and where my photography may fit in the future.
 For you non-local folk, Norfolk Brides and A Most Curious Party have a wedding fair coming up in October together, so this shoot was all about showcasing two brides/grooms that represented both of them. There was the highly-polished modern/contemporary bride, and the natural,earth-loving boho bride.

This was the largest team I have worked with by far, and a lot of responsibility on my shoulders to do them all proud, which I hope I have acheived!

Below I have posted some of the unpublished images, and you can view more over here at the article by Dalia of Norfolk Brides, shoot credits and all!

Swimsuit Summer!

Hello,world!
I apologise for being a little quiet on the photo-front lately. I have been shooting away, but all at once, so now I am having a major catch-up on retouching before I even begin thinking about venturing out and taking some self-portraits!
I am really happy to share this set of photos with you, featuring the wonderful Amber who shows just how you work a swimsuit!
We shot locally in Norwich, and collaborated with Emily Kissock/MLE who is one of the sweetest girls I have met. She was our go-to girl for make-up, giving Amber a gorgeous array of pastel lips, and faux water droplets as a finishing touch to add to our 'wet-look' swim shoot.

These are the results of the shoot, and a huge thank you to Scott Barrett for assisting us! I had a really fabulous time;

Eden

For my last brief at Uni ,before I enter into my nail-biting Final Year (very nervous, trying not to think about it!), I chose to undertake some studio work, and see if I could really bring my style of photography and ideas into such a clinical environment. As most of you may know, you will most often find me roaming around the countryside in fields and woods and the occasional beach with my photographs before now, so I had a bit of a challenge of conveying my identity through studio work, and I wondered how difficult it might be.

Before now, I have almost always approached studios with hesitation. Light set-ups baffle me, when I look at professional practitioners, and I think 'how on earth am I supposed to concoct light set-ups?'. Because of this, I shied away more often than not, and I realised it was about time to bite the bullet, and just go for it on my own outside of group work. The funny thing is, I went into the studio with no expectations of myself, and as a result I found myself really enjoying the experience of just playing with a simple 4-light set-up and just building upon it, until I was confident enough to convey my final shoot;

My final work is based around the themes of the archetype Eve from the Bible and Eden. I won't drown you in conceptual explanations of the shoot, as I hope that when you look at the images, it is pretty self-explanatory! My girls here are Poppy, Jordan and Jessica who were an absolute dream to work with! Tanya Skinner was at hand to do make-up on these girls who were wearing clothes provided by Kee Boutique (whose lace dresses I always swoon over when I pull them out of their bag to photograph!). I must thank my friend James Clancy, who assisted me during this final shoot, and was also near and handy during my light tests when I was just too short to reach the settings on the lights when extended to their full height! I think my brain would have exploded without that extra pair of hands!

Anyway, enough of my chatter, here are 3 of the final images! You can view the set of 6 finals at my website http://emilyjanemorgan.com and supporting images will appear here and there on my Flickr and Facebook pages over the coming weeks!

Of Fairytales

I had the joy of photographing an editorial for online magazine Glacier at the beginning of March, when spring was beginning to stir! I was very keen to photograph something that looked very spring-like and refreshing, after a dark, dull (but dry) winter in England!

So in between my last Uni project, I planned this editorial, and knew right away that I wanted to work with the lovely Georgina. I absolutely adore her hair, it is pretty phenomenal!
I also teamed up with Kee Boutique who sent me a lovely selection of pretty dresses, with lace and florals galore, and Pearls & Swine were wonderful enough to loan me a few hair pieces to play with, including a beautiful pink rose and a gorgeous crown,too! I spent a lot of my morning on the day of the shoot squealing with joy over the lovely things I had to photograph!

I sourced a local park to shoot at, which I had never been to before. It was very quiet and peaceful, although a little rainy, and we took cover under a balcony where Clare Barber worked her make-up magic and warmed Georgina's cheeks and lips with pastel colours that tied the look together completely!

It felt so refreshing to shoot again after being cooped up in the studio photographing still life shots for a client-based brief, and I am really pleased with the results!

Here are my favourite shots from the day:

Photographing Oli

Back towards the end on March, I had a test shoot with Oli. You may have seen a couple of the images on my website, one of which has been invited to be submitted to Getty Images (yay!), but I never got around to showing you a couple more from the day.

I met Oli outside a garage, unfortunately due to my lift into the city being post-poned because my ride put the wrong fuel in the car at the filling station during the pandemonium of that potential petrol strike. So Oli came and rescued me and we made our way to an abandoned pumping station just outside of the city. I had been there once before for a test shoot, but never properly explored it. It has so many gorgeous textures playing, and it's age makes it very appealing to photograph.
We photographed around there for about an hour, then decided that we wanted to do something a bit more summery, seeing as the weather was starting to become scorching!
We headed to one of the local parks and photographed caboodle more there, which is where I photographed Oli near some daffodils, which is my favourite shot from the day!
I have photographed Oli one more time since then, and I will be blogging about that in due course, too!

Poppy and Pearls & Swine

I had a lovely test shoot this last week with the wonderful Poppy Keith! We photographed around the gorgeous area of the Cathedral in Norwich, where the daffodils have popped up, and signs of spring have truly set in. Not so spring-like was the rain we had towards the end of the shoot, which led us to wrap it up quickly, but still very pleased with the photos we got! We went exploring in a herb garden, and admiring the quaint little houses owned by the Cathedral, with a dash of envy!
The wonderful designer Pearls & Swine loaned us these fantastic fascinators, which we had such a soft spot for (especially the crown!). Please do search for 'Pearls & Swine' on facebook, and look at all the creative, imaginative designs she produces! Your jaw will drop to the floor!
